Good Faith Estimate

The Good Faith Estimate (GFE) under the No Surprises Act requires mental health providers to give uninsured or self-pay clients a written estimate of expected costs before services begin. This estimate should include the total anticipated charges for therapy sessions and any related fees. Patients have the right to receive this estimate at least one business day before their first session and may request updates if treatment continues. If the actual charges exceed the estimate by $400 or more, patients can dispute the bill. The GFE ensures transparency, helping clients make informed financial decisions about their mental health care.
